My Favourite Foundations for Spring/Summer

Sunday, 26 May 2019

I think we can safely say now that we are completely immersed in Spring. Even if it's raining, the temperature is still steadily in the teens/twenties (Celsius, that is) and therefore pretty warm and humid most days. The make up I do definitely changes a bit with the weather; I no longer enjoy wearing anything too heavy and would sooner go for a more "natural" makeup look over full glam. Although sometimes I do still get carried away! Base makeup is so important during the warmer months as you can now mix humidity and sweat into the mix of things that may wear and tear any foundation. That being said; there are many foundations that will stand their ground against such aggressors, I have listed my favourites from my collection below...

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r

Arguably the most full coverage of the list this Fenty Beauty foundation is possibly one of the best I've ever used when it comes to staying power. It has great coverage and a matte finish (so much so it doesn't transfer) but somehow still feels like skin to the touch; which is just what you want during a hot day. I have worn this many times for long periods and it doesn't budge.

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Nude

Similar to Fenty; this Lancôme foundation has a completely matte finish so will last you all day. However, the coverage is very light so will look a lot more natural on the skin. It also has an SPF 19 so great for adding a bit more protection in the sun. Plus I love the packaging, perfect for travel!

Estée Lauder Double Wear Light

The consistency of Double Wear Light almost reminds me of a tinted moisturiser. It's quite thick but blends out very sheer. It also has a bit more radiance, giving it a second skin appearance. I sometimes wear this one in a slightly darker colour so it gives me a more bronzed look.

Nars Natural Radiant Longwear

Nars really are very good at producing popular foundations, and this one definitely lives up to the hype. The coverage is pretty good and long lasting without looking cakey and it will make your skin look healthy and radiant without being shiny. Win-win!

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat

This is a really beautiful dewy foundation, if you prefer a more glowy look then this one is perfect. The coverage is still good but it's just a bit lighter in texture than the matte foundations. If you have oilier skin then you will most likely need to powder to stop it from moving around during the day.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation

Even though it says this foundation is for normal to oily skin I still really love using it (my skin is dry). As it says it has a matte finish, but it also makes my skin look so flawless and blends so nicely. Even more impressive as it's so affordable! For my skin, I just make sure I've moisturised and hydrated before applying - this is what I'll do before applying any matte foundation. The coverage is really good but it's not heavy; I'll definitely be wearing this a lot this summer.
