Everyone wants to look their best, and obviously, everyone wants to be healthy too. Unfortunately, though, these two things don't always go together quite like they should.

 It pretty much goes without saying that you will have heard the phrase “you've got to suffer to be beautiful”,  and there's no doubt that some people really take this idea to heart in a big way.
Just take crash diets for example. Everyone knows that it's pretty terrible for your health to only eat celery and iceberg lettuce, but plenty of people are still willing to do that to themselves in order to shed a few pounds.

When all is said and done, though, you really can stay healthy while also looking your best. In fact, the healthier you are, the better you are likely to look and feel.

Here are a few basic tips for taking care of your health while also looking great!

Keep any new piercings clean during the recovery phase

Getting a piercing is a 5-minute process in any number of shops on just about any high street, in just about any country in the world these days. You could even buy tongue piercing online, thanks to the wonders of the internet. The thing is, even something as straightforward as a piercing can cause serious health complications if you're not careful. Many piercings become infected. Often, this is just a small irritation, but if you're not careful, it can turn into a major health episode. Healthcare professionals recommend washing each new piercing regularly with salt water in order to keep them sterilised. This is especially important with mouth piercings, as oral infections can easily spread to the brain and blood system.

Be careful about clothes that restrict your breathing or squeeze your organs

There’s a big market out there for devices, pills, and miracle workouts that can help you to look and be slimmer. Corsets have been around pretty much forever. Even back when they were normal attire for every woman, however, there were plenty of health campaigners warning that they could have some pretty unwelcome side effects. Think about it, when you wear a corset you are literally squeezing your rib cage and internal organs together in an unnatural way to create a slimmer frame. On top of this, corsets prevent you from taking deep, natural, and full breaths.

All in all, it's probably best to give the corsets a miss.

Go easy on the foundation and clean your face properly before going to bed

Alright, so everyone knows that they should clean their makeup off before going to bed. All the same, it's really worth driving this point home. Failing to clean your face properly, especially after wearing heavy foundation, can result in blocked pores and various nasty skin conditions. If left unchecked, these conditions can turn into serious infections and can cause real trouble. Obviously, you want your skin to glow with health instead. So, go easy on the foundation, and keep some micellar water on your bedside table in order to effectively clean up before bed. I know I know, I'm definitely guilty of getting in late and just wanting to hop straight into bed. But seriously, it's sooo bad for your skin and cleaning it off will only take you 2 minutes. Trust me, you won't regret it!
