My New Year's Resolutions

Tuesday, 2 January 2018

Before I start I want to point out that this post will not, at any point, contain the phrase "new year, new me". I have very little hope that I will change at all this year, and you know what, I don't want to! I'm pretty happy with who I am actually. That being said, there are definitely areas that I could, erm, improve on. And what better time than January 1st to put these resolutions into action! As you can see the list is pretty small; I think if you're trying to change too much you're going to struggle, well in my case anyway. Instead, I've just thought of what I really want to achieve this year and started there!

1. Get back into running

I'll be honest, since running the Paris Marathon last April, I've put my running shoes on a total of 3 times. It's not that I don't like running anymore, I've just become extremely lazy. I am taking part in an exercise class once a week so I am doing some form of exercise but definitely not enough and with the possibility of other marathons in 2018, I really need to get back into the swing of it. It hasn't helped that it's ridiculously cold and dark when I get home from work; the last thing I want to do when I come home to my warm pj's and comfy sofa is go back out again. But I know once I start it, it will get a lot easier and it's just getting through initial dread of the first run and it should be smooth sailing from there. I hope.

2. Start saving money

Anyone who knows me knows I am THE WORST at saving money. It's no joke, my pay normally lasts a few days. I have a problem. I can't help but buy clothes and make up every month; even though I have more than enough I can't help but buy more! But I need to get real for a moment. I am 26 years old, have been in a relationship for almost 7 years and we still live with a parent. It's time to grow up and move out, which means we need to start saving pronto. The property ladder is not kind to first time buyers/renters and if we don't move out as soon as possible then we probably never will!

3. Work on my Blog & YouTube Channel

Ever since I started my blog and channel this has become my biggest hobby. I seriously enjoy it and I really want to focus on them this year and try to make them the best they can be!
