At last! A collection from an affordable brand I love that doesn't break the bank! I was super excited when I caught wind of this collection, not only does it include products that I use a lot but all the products are sooo affordable they will be within everyone's budget. I am a big fan of Rimmel and have loved many of their products in the past; there were also a few I didn't like so much so I was interested to see what I thought of this collection.
I really like this primer, I added some into my foundation and I found it gave my complexion warmth and made it look quite luminous. I always know if a product works well for me if my skin still looks great before I take my make up off at the end of the day; and after wearing this I was very happy. I've also worn a really light layer of this on lazy days and it gives just enough coverage to make me look alive!
I know colour correcting isn't everyone's thing but when you have dark circles like mine it's pretty much a must. I also have quite a red nose and chin so I like to use colour correctors to even out my skin tone. The colours are very pigmented and I thought they did a very good job concealing unevenness. My only issue with this palette is how creamy it is. I normally do colour correcting first, but I found if I used a brush to apply my foundation, the brush just moved the concealer around to the point where nothing was corrected anymore. I pretty much undid everything! Instead I had to use a beauty blender to pack the product on top which worked a lot better but I still think some of the product was moved as it didn't look full coverage anymore.
The formula for these concealers is exactly the same as the colour correctors; and for that reason I'm not a huge fan. They're just not full coverage enough for my under eye area, unfortunately I can still see darkness after I've blended it. The darker colour is great for contouring but when it comes to highlighting it just doesn't work for me.
The contour and highlight stick is probably my favourite product from the whole collection, I got it in the colour medium as I'm quite tanned at the moment and think it suits my skin tone perfectly. As you can see from the picture both colours are highly pigmented, can you seeee that shimmer highlight? Not only that but they are so creamy and they blend beautifully! Honestly it takes seconds and the colour never faded throughout the day. This product is not dissimilar to the new KKW Beauty contour sticks; I haven't actually tried them so I can't compare but I do know they are a similar but the KKW Beauty contour sticks are a lot more expensive so if you wanted the cheaper option then I would definitely give this a go!
I'm not normally one for the matte look as I feel like it makes my dry skin dryer. However during the summer months when it is very hot and humid I do like to put a little bit of powder on when my face starts to glisten with sweat. I love the hashtag imprints and it also smells really fresh which is always nice. I also like how my skin looks when I first apply it; however, it definitely didn't stay matte throughout the day and it did not fix my make up either. I had to reapply various times and my make up disappeared in certain areas. Unfortunately, this did not work for me.
To be honest, when it comes to the setting spray I wasn't like "WOW this is groundbreaking!" but I wasn't disappointed either. It didn't dry out my face, which is a problem I have faced in the past, and by the end of the day my make up was still in place. So for the price I'm happy.
Overall there are products that worked and didn't work well for me. The look of the whole collection is really cute and as I've said many times before just because something doesn't work for me that doesn't mean it won't work for you. You can't really argue with the price of the products and actually there are a couple that I really enjoyed using and will continue to do so. They don't break the bank so why not give them a go!
