Long Walks
For some reason I don't feel I've made the most of the good weather unless I've spent the majority of my time outside. I do enjoy sunbathing but somehow it's not quite the same in my back garden than it is on holiday next to the sea; so instead I enjoy going on walks around the countryside, sometimes letting the dog tag along. If I'm not in the countryside, a local park is just as nice. Anywhere green basically! It's nice basking in the sunshine whilst getting (a little) exercise.
Wearing Shorts
I don't think I've gone into detail before about my collection of shorts and how much I love them. But I am completely and utterly obsessed. I just love that there are so many styles and they are so flattering. Perfect for summer as you can get your legs out but I also love that you don't risk the gust of wind catching you out like when you wear a skirt! A summer wardrobe staple.
Getting a Tan
I know it's actually very bad for you but I do really like getting a tan. There's nothing healthy about looking tanned as it's actually damaged skin. Not to be a downer or anything! Although I am blindly ignoring all the PSA's about too much sun exposure just to have that golden glow. Of course I am sensible when in the sun and always make sure I have sun protection on any exposed skin.
Ice Cream
BBQ's
Even though I don't eat meat I still enjoy a BBQ. I'm not sure how the BBQ makes quorn sausages taste different to oven cooking but I just love sitting in the garden with a cold beverage and a (veggie) burger (have I mentioned before that I am a vegetarian?). It's basically another excuse to sit outside.
Going on Day Trips
Although public transport is pretty horrid when it's sweltering I do like going on day trips. Mainly to outside places. Something like going to a manor house or walking round a market is made all the more enjoyable when it's pleasant weather. However I do have to be prepared for a lot of other people who have had the same idea as me.
Evening Runs
I say "evening" because for me, I find it difficult to run when it's really hot. When it's later and the sun's lower I really enjoy it as there's still the warmth but the sun isn't shining down on you. Since running the marathon I have kept to running 5km's to ease back into it, any further and it would become a very sweaty situation which I'm not too keen on.
Pub Gardens
Is there any better drinking space then a good old english pub garden? Having a nice cold beer or cider whilst sitting in a beautiful garden setting is so relaxing and a great way to spend an afternoon. Beer or cider festivals are especially fun as you get the locals out trying all the different drinks on offer.
Pimms!
If you haven't tried a Pimms (or fruit cup) then you are missing out. A glass of this with strawberries, cucumber and mint is the ultimate summer drink; it almost feels wrong drinking it in winter. It barely tastes like alcohol, which I suppose isn't necessarily a good thing for some people, but it is so refreshing on a hot day.
Music Festivals
Since 2011 there hasn't been a summer when I've not been to a festival. Whether it's a small local festival or one of the largest ones in the world I'll be dancing away in the crowd having the time of my life. I'm just such a huge fan of live music so being able to see such an array of artists in one weekend is so much fun. The toilets however, are not.
Blogging in the Garden
Since I only started my blog last September, this is the first time I've been able to sit outside with my laptop. I am typing this as I am sitting in my garden, surrounded by my cats lounging in the sun and I am loving it!
