Another Rimmel product that I’m not happy with? This surprises me. I bought this at a time when I didn’t have a lot of money in the bank so couldn’t afford to purchase a famous Urban Decay or Benefit eyeshadow primer. However I’d heard so much about eyeshadow primers I didn’t want to miss out. That was when I spotted this product online and for such a modest price, £4.99 in fact; I really hoped I’d bagged a bargain. Unfortunately this was not that case. Firstly, I didn’t like the texture; I found it applied really weird almost crumbly across the eyelid and had an uneven lumpy texture. There were a couple of times that I was actually left with small lumps of product on my eyelid that I had to wipe off and sometimes once I had blended it fully over the lid, it felt really weird like there was a film over the skin. Either way, I didn’t like it! I'm not sure if that would bother anyone else but it definitely bothered me. I tried applying straight onto the lid and over a layer of foundation and found it happened both times.
That being said, my main gripe with this product is the fact that it didn’t actually perform when it came to keeping product in place. I tried it with different types of eyeshadow and found that within a couple of hours all eyeshadows had lost their intensity and the shimmer in the shimmery eyeshadows had actually begun to crease. Definitely not what you want from an eyeshadow primer! Sadly I don’t think Rimmel have got this right at all. Even if it had good staying power, the texture was just so off putting for me. Remember this is all personal preference and it would be interesting to see if this product has worked for anyone else. However I do think spending a bit more money on an Urban Decay or Benefit primer would probably work out better!
