Review: Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits

Wednesday, 14 September 2016
Yes, believe it or not, I actually managed to get my hands on some Kylie lip kits!
Now, I’m not the biggest fan of the Kardashian/Jenner clan but I have to admit I do indulge in a few “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” marathons (it’s easy viewing okay) and their make up is always on point. Kylie is fast becoming the most popular sister with millions upon millions of followers on her social media accounts, so it’s hardly surprising that her cosmetic products sell out ridiculously fast.

Kylie Lip Kits

It took me almost a year to purchase some for myself; she would always restock way after my payday and anyone who knows me knows my pay does not last very long. I have a problem. Anyway when I finally did get some Kylie products, I was very excited as I had read mixed reviews so was interested to see how they worked on me.

First of all I love the packaging and how the kits come with matching lip liners; I have spent many hours scouring the make up aisles looking for lip liners to match my new lipstick so this has made life much easier. Yes, shopping for lip liners is tough. The lip liners themselves are very smooth and creamy which feels nice on the lips. Personally, I do prefer lip liners to have a harder consistency, I feel you can get a straighter line with them and it just comes out a bit crisper but the initial pay off of the Kylie ones were still very nice. That being said, I wore Kourt K on an evening out and found the lip liner disappeared and I had to reapply throughout the night.

On the other hand I found the liquid lipstick stayed put for hours; I thought the wand made for an easy application and most of the colours were very pigmented so not a lot of it was needed, this is not including Reign and Kourt K which were quite streaky and needed a few coats for full coverage. It did have a strong vanilla scent which I know might bother some people but I didn’t mind it. One big thing I did notice about the liquid lipsticks is that they are very very drying; for me this isn’t so bad, I feel the dryer something is the longer it stays, which I like. This probably isn’t right at all, it’s just how my mind works. However I do need to mention that because they were so dry removing them was quite difficult, I did need to scrub at it with a make up wipe which my lips did not thank me for. I also saw some people saying that they had been sent empty tubes but luckily I didn’t encounter this problem, hopefully they fixed the issue after all the complaints.

The kits each cost $29 for the liquid lipstick and a matching lip liner. I also got one of the metals for $18 which was just the liquid lipstick. Unfortunately for us in the UK, we also have to add international shipping and a customs charge on top of that.

There is no guarantee that you will like these products just because I do, as products can come out differently on different skin types and skin tones. So if you are happy to spend the money, I would definitely start with buying just one to make sure you actually like the product before splurging on any more.

Me & Mary Jo K

All in all I do like these products, my favourite was Mary Jo K, the problem is I’m a bit of a collector so now I want them all! Remember what I said about my pay not lasting long? I would also be very interested to try other Kylie cosmetics, when I get paid of course!
