My Current Favourite Foundations

Monday, 8 May 2017

Foundation is something I like to have a variety of; my preferences change day by day and my skin tone changes throughout the year. Having foundations in a range of colours and coverages means I'll always achieve the look I want with the products I've got!

MAC Face & Body, Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear, Teint Idole Ultra Cushion & Teint Miracle, Nars Sheer Glow, Bourjois Healthy Mix, Clinique Beyond Perfecting & Rimmel Wake Me Up

The foundations featured in the picture are my most used foundations and ones that I would definitely recommend. LancÔme Teint Idole Ultra Wear and Clinique Beyond Perfecting are both medium to full coverage which I like to wear if I'm out all day or going out in the evening. Ultra Wear has a matte finish so no chance of shine; Beyond Perfecting is a bit more dewy. One thing I will say about Clinique foundations is their colour selection is a bit off, the colour I have (6.5 Buttermilk) is considered a "Neutral" shade but it is actually very yellow toned. Now personally I don't mind that too much because I like wearing warmer foundations but if you're new to the brand I would definitely get colour matched and try a sample before buying.

The other LancÔme foundations featured (yes there's a lot of LancÔme, working for a brand has its perks) are Teint Miracle and the Teint Idole Ultra Cushion. The Cushion foundation is still quite a full coverage when applied with the sponge you get in the packet; however I apply it with a regular foundation brush which gives a lighter finish. My favourite LancÔme foundation is Teint Miracle, it has a lovely radiant finish which makes my skin look flawless.

Speaking of radiant finishes, possibly my favourite foundation of all time is Nars Sheer Glow. It completely transforms my skin and gives that lovely airbrushed look. It also feels so silky as you apply and just glides on beautifully. Literally cannot say enough good things about this foundation. The lightest coverage of my collection is MAC Face and Body; I really like this for during the day when I'm not putting too much effort into my appearance. It feels like you've got nothing on yet evens out your skin tone beautifully. A definite for anyone who prefers the "barely there" look and feel.

For high street/drug store options Rimmel Wake Me Up and Bourjois Healthy mix are my winners. Granted I haven't tried every high street foundation but I was very impressed with both of these. I would say they are both medium coverage with a dewy finish. Any one with dry skin like me will love these and they don't break the bank. Only issue with these is the colour selection isn't great. When you think about the fact that LancÔme Teint Idole Ultra Wear is available in 40 shades these brands really should think about expanding their shade range. I am aware that there are high street brands that do have a great range of colours but it should really be the norm now that foundations have at least 20 different colours if not more!

Anyway, I am always up for trying new foundations however these are my tried and tested that I know will never let me down. A Good make up look starts with a good base!
